Marketing Manager/Coordinator

Position Overview

Vocantas is an entrepreneurial company competing in the rapidly growing IVRS market in Canada and the United States. The organization prides itself on its ability to respond to market conditions quickly and decisively. Marketing plays a key role in helping to achieve Vocantas' business objectives in a highly dynamic environment.

The Marketing Manager will oversee all activities related to the development, implementation and monitoring of the Company's marketing plans and programs, and will be accountable for the performance of marketing operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for the successful implementation of the Vocantas Marketing Plan (2010-2012), which will focus on:

  • Increasing awareness and market penetration of Vocantas branded outbound IVR solutions in its target verticals.
  • Providing qualified support and expertise to the sales teams, account managers, channel managers and sales partners to meet/exceed sales targets with sales support and lead generation programs.
  • Improving Vocantas' channel reach and efficiency with partner programs and sales training.
  • Building Vocantas' corporate profile in its target verticals with consistent marketing and communication messaging.

Specifically, the Marketing Manager will:

  • Prepare and manage an annual marketing budget, and provide monthly reports on spending variance.
  • Track and report on developing market and competitive trends.
  • Recommend changes to the marketing strategy, as required, based on market developments.
  • Support sales personnel by developing, implementing, and monitoring the performance of vertical-specific marketing materials, and demand/lead generation programs.
  • Developing, updating and producing effective sales support tools, including collateral materials, product demos, business case analyses, customer case studies, and customer testimonials.
  • Maintain a yearly calendar of events and conferences which support Vocantas' objectives in key verticals. Oversee preparations for any Vocantas participation in events, including sponsorship commitments, speaker presentations, promotional items, exhibitor branding, and lead capture.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of the Vocantas website and recommend improvements to key messaging elements and lead generation functionality. Oversee the implementation of content changes and upgrades and coordinate the activities of in-house or contracted web design and development resources.
  • Prepare press releases for distribution and related briefing notes for the CEO. Manage media relations activities including responding to media enquiries, and maintain a current list of key media contacts by vertical market.
  • Identify the key influential research analysts in the North American IVRS market space, establish relationships, and provide periodic updates of Vocantas market and product development activities.

Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of marketing management experience in a high-tech, business-to-business environment.

  • A background in software product marketing would be an asset.
  • A relevant undergraduate degree is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of traditional and online marketing and brand management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be proficient in/advanced user of MS Windows and MS Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Contribute.
  • Highly motivated and entrepreneurial.
  • Proven track record of successfully initiating and delivering marketing communications programs in a technology-oriented organization.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and with minimum supervision.
  • Outstanding negotiation and customer relationship management skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
